Using a Mala is a simple and meaningful practice. Begin by finding a quiet, peaceful space where you can sit comfortably and without distraction. Take a moment to clarify your intention and choose a mantra or affirmation that reflects your purpose.
Gently close your eyes and bring awareness to your natural breath. Breathe deeply, allowing your body to relax as you draw your focused attention into your mantra or affirmation.
Hold the Mala in your right hand and let the first bead rest lightly over your middle or ring finger. Place your thumb on the bead closest to the tassel—this is the guru bead, which stands apart from the others and serves as a reminder of the sacredness of your practice and the guidance of your teacher.
Begin reciting your mantra. After each repetition, use your thumb to gently move to the next bead. Continue this process, allowing each bead to guide you through one full cycle of intention and breath.
When you reach the guru bead again and wish to continue, do not cross over it. Instead, pause, turn the Mala around, and move in the opposite direction. The guru bead is never passed over; it marks the moment to reflect, reaffirm your intention, and begin anew.
Become the master creator of your reality.
